Do I need to do everything on my estimate?
You may not need to do everything, but these are the recommendations that we prescribed to improve the quality of your turf. Our landscape technician will help you determine which of the recommendations is most vital.
Why can’t I just do the work myself?
Our job goes beyond just the application of chemicals, but includes the diagnosis of problem areas and the expertise to minimize the use of technical materials.
When do you start?
We typically start the services in late March or early April but it’s never too late to begin.
Do I really need winter lawn service?
Yes. A winter application promotes an early spring green-up and deters regermination of weeds.
How safe are your materials?
We use all eco friendly materials in the least amount possible to achieve the desired result.
How long should my kids/pets stay off the lawn after an application?
Typically one to two hours is sufficient.
How soon should I mow my lawn after an application?
It’s best to wait one day after the application and to leave lawn clippings behind.
When should I water my lawn and how often?
Depending upon weather conditions, two to three times per week is typically sufficient.
Why are there brown spots on my lawn?
This is tricky as it could be benign or something more severe like a lawn disease or insect problem. A lawn specialist will need to come out to determine the cause.
Should I be home for the services?
No! Unless we are instructed otherwise, our operator will complete his work and leave the billing at your door. We automatically schedule your next application in six to eight weeks.
Tree Care FAQ
What is a hazardous tree and how do I spot one?
A hazardous tree is defined as any defective tree, or tree part, that poses a high risk upon its failure or fracture to cause injury to people or do damage to property. A hazardous tree has one or more defects which decreases its structural integrity and gives it an increased potential for failure.
Our trained arborists will inspect and evaluate your trees and implement a tree management program to alleviate as much risk as possible.
Some things you may see are branch Breakage, root decay and branch shedding. If you see these please call us for a hazardous tree assessment.
Why should I prune?
There are three main reasons for pruning your trees.
Hazard pruning involves removing dead branches that could fall to injure a person, property or utility lines.
Pruning for health involves thinning the crown to increase air flow and to encourage trees to develop a strong structure by removing diseased wood among other things.
Aesthetic pruning involves maintaining the tree/shrub in such a way as to enhance its natural form and to stimulate flower production.
Pruning should always be done by a professional with knowledge of the trees and diseases native to your area.
Can I have an ongoing tree trimming service?
Yes, all our programs are customized to your trees and needs. Regular tree trimming may be one of the things that we recommend in our hazard reduction evaluation.
And ongoing maintenance is the best preventative action for healthy trees.
We recently went thru a storm and I think my trees may be damaged. What should I do?
It is very important to call us in this situation. Unless you are a trained arborist, you don’t know if they’ve been damaged, the extent of the damage, or if they are safe. The same goes for heavy winter snow and ice. It is important to contact us and let us assess the damage or risk.

Do I need to be home at the time of the estimate?
It is helpful for you to be present at the time of your evaluation / estimate. Meeting face to face gives you the opportunity to address all of your concerns with the arborist. However, appointments can be scheduled without the property owner on site. We can communicate with you by phone/email and/or leave an estimate on site.
Why do my trees need to be fertilized and when should it be done?
A tree needs to be fertilized when it is nutritionally deficient. Some signs of this are when it has smaller than normal or off color foliage or dead or diseased branches. When and if it should be done should be determined by us. As local arborists, we have knowledge of local soil and environmental conditions. However there are some cases when mature/feature trees need an upkeep of basic nutrients to promote health, vigor and vitality.
